Sofia Ortega

Chief Financial Officer, London

Sofia Ortega is Northwood’s chief financial officer. She joined in 2015, just as the firm was closing its second fund, and has run finance, fund administration and reporting for every fund since.

Sofia was a fund controller at a private equity firm in London for seven years before joining. Her team handles capital calls, distributions, audits and the quarterly reports that go to the funds’ investors, and she has a strong preference for reports a limited partner can read in ten minutes. She also works directly with founders on the practical side of a Northwood investment, from closing mechanics to the cap table questions that come up before a new round.

Sofia grew up in Valencia and makes paella for the whole office every summer, outdoors, in a pan that does not fit in her flat.
