Juniper: Fraud prevention for instant payments
Active
Instant payments settle in seconds and cannot be recalled, which makes them an easy target for fraud. Banks and payment providers send each transfer to Juniper before it goes through, and its models score the risk in under 50 milliseconds, drawing on the device, the payee’s account history and patterns across the network to catch scams that rely on talking people into paying.
Camille led fraud strategy at a French retail bank, and Hugo built real-time risk systems for a large European card processor. With new rules making instant payments standard across the euro area, the need was clear to us. Rafael led our seed investment in 2026.
Six banks in France and Belgium already run Juniper in production, screening around four million payments a week. The team plans to expand into Germany and Spain next year.
