Arbor: Treasury management for growing companies
Acquired by Meridian Bank, 2019
Arbor gives finance teams at companies with 50 to 500 staff a single view of their cash across banks, currencies and entities. It connects to more than 30 European banks, forecasts liquidity thirteen weeks out and sweeps surplus balances into money market funds automatically, work most of its customers had been doing by hand in spreadsheets.
We met Pieter and Mila a few months after they left the treasury desk of a large Dutch insurer, where they had built a rough version of the product for internal use. Nadia led the seed round in 2013, our fourth investment from Fund I, and sat on the board through the Series B.
By 2019 Arbor was managing more than €9 billion in client balances for some 1,400 companies. Meridian Bank acquired it that year to offer treasury tools to its business banking clients, and the Arbor team still runs the product from Amsterdam.
