Fernway: Traceable timber for construction

Active

Fernway tracks timber from the forest to the building site. Every beam and panel carries a tag linked to a record of where the tree was felled, how the wood was processed and its embodied carbon, giving developers and architects the evidence they need for green building certification and for new European rules on deforestation-free supply.

Astrid was head of sustainability at a Swedish construction group, and Johan built supply chain software for the forestry industry. Clara led our investment in the 2023 Series A after hearing the same request from three large contractors in our network: a reliable way to prove where their timber came from.

Fernway now traces more than four million cubic metres of timber a year, working with 160 sawmills in the Nordics and the Baltics and more than 90 contractors across Europe.
